Methods vary, such as;
- Pretending that you are entitled to money back because you have been debited too much before.
- Claiming that an order has been made in your name, that they can help you cancel if you just identify yourself.
- Claiming that your BankID has been hijacked, in order to actually gain access to your bank and create a new BankID in your name.
- Asking you to perform a credit control by identifying yourself.

How it works:

Impersonators contact you and pretend to be from a trusted entity, insisting that there are some kind of unauthorized transactions being made in your name. They offer help to stop the fraud, but here's the catch:

  1. False concern: They fake concern about your finances, creating a sense of urgency.

  2. Personal details: They might already have basic info, making their call seem legit.

  3. Access request: They ask for sensitive details, like BankID or account info, claiming it's for verification.

  4. Misdirection: While you think they're securing your account, they're actually siphoning funds.

Protect yourself!

Never share personal info over the phone or in writing. If in doubt, hang up and call your whoever they claimed to represent directly, using the official number on their website.
